We are planning to carry out an upgrade of the telephone system software, together with some related works on Tuesday 7 & Wednesday 8 April which are University Closure Days during the Easter break.
- Tuesday 7 April, 13:00 – 16:00. All incoming external calls will be diverted to an answering service. The whole service will be unavailable for two hours within this period.
- Wednesday 8 April. Telephony system testing, where the service should be considered ‘at risk’.
The University’s 24-hour Control Centre will not have internal telephone services and therefore will have to use its external BT line to take emergency calls. The number to call is 023 8055 8477. Internal phones all over the campuses will NOT be available for people to use, including the lift phones and refuge phones.
As a precaution, staff should avoid coming onto campus, especially alone, ensure that they bring a mobile phone, and avoid using lifts where possible.
Locally set diverts, Message Waiting Indications and any other local changes made on extensions may be lost. If you are at all concerned about the possibility of losing a setting, such as call diverts, please contact ServiceLine before the Easter break.
Network connections to PCs and laptops over IP phones will also be disrupted (if your network connection for your PC/laptop also goes through your phone).
