Earlier this month, our Wessex Sailing Club entered three teams into the National Yachting Championships, with our team Southampton Red successfully defending the title for the third year in a row, beating Oxford and Cambridge.
This win follows the success in 2014 when the Wessex Sailing Club won the Student Yachting World Cup. Our team will defend their world title in France this October.
John Inverdale, President of British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and Southampton alumnus, presided at the Prize Giving.
Emily Nagel, Commodore of the club said,
I am incredibly proud of all the teams. For most of the week all three teams were in the top 8 and to have two teams win BUCS points is exciting. We are very happy to have won the event for a third year running and prove that we play to win!
