Congratulations to our Enactus Southampton team which has won the UK national championship for the fourth time in the last five years.
The University’s team of student social entrepreneurs will now represent Enactus UK at the World Cup in South Africa later this year. The Southampton team came through three rounds of competition involving 35 teams from across the UK.
In addition, Enactus Southampton also won the Female Empowerment through Food Waste or Nutrition Award, sponsored by Tesco.
Josh Hasdell, Enactus Southampton President, received the Outstanding Contribution Award, and said of his team’s performance,
“Leading the Enactus Southampton team this year has been a dream with over 203 members contributing to our mission set out 12 months ago – to start making a change to the world we live in – and I’m so proud that all the members hard work has been recognised nationally as the UK Enactus Champions 2015.”
The team was also shortlisted for the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award, the Unilever ‘Impact Made By You’ Award and the KPMG Inspiring Confidence and Empowering Change Award.
Supported by business, alumni and University mentors, Enactus Southampton is engaged in 10 entrepreneurial projects in both the UK and in Africa.
Enactus Southampton also won the UK national title in 2013, 2012, and 2011. The society also came second at the Enactus World Cup in Mexico, the highest ever placing for a UK team at international level.
