The fast approaching AU Awards Ball is a once-a-year opportunity to celebrate the achievements and successes of AU teams and members. The event is one in a series of four awards ceremonies run by SUSU celebrating excellence across the University.
The Athletic Union supports 94 teams ranging from archery to Zumba and gives equal opportunity to all sports to win in the 13 categories. Amongst the awards to be given out is 1st Year Sportsperson, Sports Personality of the Year, Sportsman/woman of the Year, Coach Award and Team of the Year. Colors – club, half and full will also be handed out.
Through nominations and voting for the event’s performer, award-winning DJ and Hip Hop artist Charlie Sloth was chosen to headline. Charlie Sloth started his career as a member of both Hype Squad and the Grimey Limeys, and released solo material in 2007. Sloth now presents the drive time show on BBC Radio 1Xtra (their most listened to show of the week) and the hip-hop show on BBC Radio 1.
The AU Awards Ball will take place at St. Mary’s Stadium Friday 1 May beginning at 17:30 for dining guests and 20:30 for non-dining guests. Further information is available on Facebook.
The University would like to congratulate all sports participants, nominees and winners of the 2014-2015 year.
