The iconic piece of furniture was accompanied by regular Breakfast TV presenter Charlie Stayt, who spoke to Southampton students about their opinions on student finance and higher education issues ahead of the General Election.

The students, who are studying a variety of different subjects, will feature on BBC Breakfast tomorrow (Friday, 24 April) between 06.00 – 09.00, along with two other Southampton students taking part in a live broadcast from a local primary school.

The BBC Breakfast ‘election’ red sofa has been touring the UK, capturing opinions and the mood of the country ahead of polling day.  It attracted a lot of attention and excitement from staff and students passing by on campus during the filming and Charlie Stayt was in much demand for photos and ‘selfies’!

The opportunity to feature on Breakfast, which attracts an audience of around seven million, comes just weeks after Dean of Social and Human Sciences, Professor Jane Falkingham, appeared live on the programme speaking about issues around population ageing.
