Excel Southampton Placement opportunities up for grabs

Each year, the Excel Southampton Placement Programme provides 4-12 week opportunities exclusively for our students.

In the past, our interns have organised new student arrivals as part of the Welcome project; supported the team developing treatments for patients with lung disease and planned marketing activities using online and offline channels

With today’s employers expecting 37% of entry-level positions to be filled by graduates who have already worked for their organisations, obtaining work experience during a degree has never been more crucial.

The placement scheme is also a great opportunity for staff who need extra support during the summer months on a project.

Are you a student who wants to apply for a placement in the summer?

You will be supported by the Placement Team and paid during your internship. If you find your own opportunity and this meets the Excel Southampton criteria, you may still be able to access the funding.

Visit the webpage to view current vacancies and complete an application form.  Vacancies close on the 26 April and 24 May.

Are you a member of staff who needs some help during the summer?

To apply to host a student placement, complete the online application form found here, then visit our website and complete and submit a Job Description.

Our dedicated team will advertise your placement opportunity to the relevant students, manage the recruitment process and set up your chosen candidate with payroll. The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday 28 April.

Earlier this year, second year Medicine student, Oliver Reed, won the National Best Intern award, following his Excel Placement last summer. Speaking of his experience, Ollie said,

“I definitely would recommend the placement scheme. It is a great opportunity to experience possible careers and get to see what the job entails. It is also a brilliant opportunity to earn some money while also being able to add something onto your CV.”
