The University continues to climb in The Complete University Guide, published online today.
Southampton has risen two places this year to reach 14th overall out of 126 universities in the Guide’s 2016 institutional rankings.
In addition, the Guide places the University in the top 10 in the following subject areas:
Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering (5th out of 40)
Anthropology (7th – not ranked last year)
Aural & Oral Sciences (5th out of 23)
Civil Engineering (4th out of 53)
Communication & Media Studies (10th out of 91)
Computer Science (8th out of 105)
Education (7th out of 80)
Electrical & Electronic Engineering (3rd out of 76)
General Engineering (6th out of 51)
German (10th out of 43)
Iberian Languages (10th out of 51)
Linguistics (8th out of 38)
Mechanical Engineering (5th out of 68)
Social Policy (7th out of 55)
Once again this year, Southampton remains in the top 10 within all five of the Guide’s engineering subject lists with Aeronautical & Manufacturing, Civil, Electrical & Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, all featuring in the top 10 every year since the Complete University Guide was first published in 2008.
The Southampton subjects showing the greatest improvement this year are:
Education (to 7th from 25th)
English (to 16th from 29th)
Politics – the University’s highest climber (to 22nd from 42nd)
