All staff involved in first year teaching, whether as an educator or in a supportive role, are invited to submit an abstract for the half-day symposium on ‘First year teaching: Reflecting on the changing needs of our students’ taking place on 11th June. The deadline for submission has been extended to:
Midday Wednesday 6th May.
The event is being organised by the Institute for Learning Innovation and Development (ILIaD) and will give attendees the opportunity to:
- Explore the changing student profile and resulting opportunities and challenges
- Reflect on the role of supporting first year students
- Engage with colleagues to discuss good practice across the university in teaching first year students
- Network and form collaborations across the university
Submissions of abstracts in all areas relating to first year teaching are welcome.
Topics of particular interest include:
- Transition
- Teaching diverse students/diversity/internationalisation
- Teaching large groups
- Academic skills
- Student support in the first year
- Using technology to enhance learning
- Blended learning
