Rifle Club are crowned national champions for sixth year in a row

The University rifle club has once again beaten off competition from all other UK universities at the annual BUCS championships to retain the national championships. This success means that Southampton has won this championship 14 times in the last 16 years. rifle club competition

Alongside the main championships, Southampton also came first in Invitation Pairs and Ladies Triad; second in Invitation Quarter, Ladies Triad and Overall Individual; and third in Ladies Individual.

The England vs Scotland Home Countries International match was held after the days events with four out of ten of the English team coming from Southampton. The English team won for the third year in a row.rifle club team

Mike Bargeron, Southampton Rifle Club Captain, said

“The team did an absolutely fantastic job with many people shooting scores way above their averages. As a whole I couldn’t be happier with the way things panned out, we took 24 medals and came back as team champions for the 6th year running.”
