Academic Registrar announces her retirement

Dr Anne-Marie Drummond, Academic Registrar, has announced that she will be retiring from the University this July. Anne-Marie joined the University in her current role in July 2012 (following on from an earlier period as Faculty Registrar and then member of the central Quality Assurance team 1997-2000).

During her last three years at the University she has overseen the consolidation of the Student and Academic Administration (SAA) Work Stream across both Registry and the faculties, and supported preparation for the recent Higher Education Review, including revision of the Quality, Monitoring and Enhancement (QME) Framework during 2012/13.

Announcing her retirement, Anne-Marie said,

“The challenges facing an Academic Registrar reflect those facing the Work Stream as a whole:  SAA’s role is to provide vital support for both students and academic staff in all aspects of teaching and learning, and in that way to support the core activities and strategic aspirations of the University.  The work involved in doing this is both high volume and high pressure throughout the academic year, from admissions through to graduation.

“It has been a great honour to have been able to work alongside so many dedicated colleagues in SAA as they demonstrate their huge commitment to both staff and students in meeting each year’s new challenges, and I will certainly miss the team.  Retirement will bring me the chance to devote more time to my family and to other personal pursuits.”

Steve White, the Chief Operating Officer, said,

“Anne-Marie has played a pivotal role over the last three years in transforming our Registry services and guiding the University through an extremely successful Higher Education Review. I’m sure that you will all want to join me in wishing her a very happy retirement.”
