Let’s talk about mental health

It’s time to talk about the elephant in the room. The Students’ Union is launching a campaign to help students talk more about mental health.

Statistically, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in any given year. That could be anxiety, depression, stress, all the way up to schizophrenia – any number of illnesses that fall under the umbrella. It’s time to talk about it, so that you can recognise the symptoms in yourself and your friends, in students and colleagues, and look for help.

There are a number of different support services from the University, SUSU and external agencies who all focus on supporting in maintaining good mental health.

As part of SUSU’s ongoing campaign to bring awareness to mental health problems, there is a short survey that students can complete.

Each year, for our staff and students, the University and Students’ Union celebrate best practice in mental health during Wellbeing Day. You can find more information about what happened during the most recent Wellbeing Day on the University website.
