University welcomes new Environment and Sustainability Manager, Lucy Potashnick

!lpotashnickLucy Potashnick has taken up her new role as Environment and Sustainability Manager in Estates and Facilities.

Lucy joins the University from WWF-UK where she was Environmental Manager for the UK arm of the global charity. In this role she ensured that WWF’s own operations were consistent with its international mission to reduce environmental impact.

Lucy’s first priority at Southampton will be to ensure that the University maintains its ISO14001 status. We achieved this international standard for Environmental Management (also referred to as EcoCampus Platinum) in 2014 and will be regularly audited to ensure that as an organisation we are continually improving.

Lucy said:

“Achieving ISO14001 last year was a great milestone for the University – it demonstrated that there is a robust system in place for identifying, managing and reducing our environmental impacts. My role is to make sure we maintain these high standards and look for further ways to improve sustainability on our campuses.”

Central to the University’s sustainability activities are our groundbreaking and award-winning initiatives that bring together students and staff.
