In partnership with The Royal Armouries and The Battlefield Trust, the conference, open to staff and students, will take place at the University between Friday 31 July and Monday 3 August.
Across the weekend, the conference will explore three main themes: War On Land, War on Sea and The Culture of War.
In addition to the interesting and informative sessions throughout the conference, Saturday will involve an event in collaboration with The Battlefield Trust. Sunday will be made up of excursions to the Mary Rose Exhibition, a visit to Portchester Castle and lunch at Titchfield Abbey and Barn, before the day rounds off with a conference dinner at Fort Nelson.
The keynote speakers of the conference include: Professor Bertrand Schnerb (Lille), Dr Andrew Ayton (Hull), Dr Alexandra Hildred (Mary Rose Trust), Dr Thom Richardson (Royal Armouries, Leeds) and Professor Anne Curry from the University.
Author and historian Dr Ian Mortimer will deliver ‘The Meaning of War’ as a Special Public Lecture.
