Continuing on from a successful fundraising campaign, four University students will set off on a 19-nation transcontinental journey starting with a launch organised by the Southampton2Mongolia team. The event will be held on the redbrick outside the Students’ Union on Friday 10 July at 16:00 and is an opportunity for the University community to give the team a proper send off before the start of their 10,000 mile adventure.
The initiative intends to highlight the shortfall of emergency vehicles in the Central Asian country, vehicles which are often poorly maintained and ill-equipped. The team raised money for the ambulance they will be driving to Mongolia through the University’s crowdfunding platform Hubbub. Through fundraising events and soliciting sponsorship from companies such as ABP and the clothing brand Supersaturated, the students have met their goal through over 600 donations.
