Joanna Smith, a member of staff in the Early Years Centre, is taking on a bold challenge to help raise awareness and to collect donations in aid of the Campaign for the Centre for Cancer Immunology.
At 14:00 this afternoon, Jo will shave her head on behalf of the campaign. The aim is that her efforts will inspire others to support the campaign.
Jo feels that because cancer affects the lives of so many people, she wanted to do something personally that would get people’s attention and in her own words “something extreme”. She feels passionately about the ground-breaking work being carried out by the University in the area of cancer research and immunology. Jo works as an Early Years Practitioner and has been employed by the University for over 8 years.
You can follow along with Jo’s head shaving challenge on the campaign’s twitter channel at @CCI_UoS who will be live tweeting the event. You can also donate to her Just Giving fundraising page.
