This August, the University’s Social Impact Lab is sending ten students to Delhi, India, to participate in a programme designed to turn students into social leaders.

From Saturday 22 to Monday 31 August, our students will participate in the first International Social Innovation Challenge around the theme of ‘Empowering Women through Safer Communities’. The social leadership programme has been created by colleagues from the University, OP Jindul Global University in India and Lahore University of Management Services in Pakistan, with support from the British Council in India.

During the programme, the students will be engaging in workshops with a team of young people from all three participating countries, led by experts in social enterprise and academia. They will work to generate solutions for commuter safety, social mobility for women from low-income backgrounds, and empowering female students living in Delhi.

Dr Pathik Pathak, the University Director for Social Entrepreneurship and founder of the Social Impact Lab, says:

“We hope this will be a transformative experience for our students. They will get the chance to work in international teams with students from diverse subjects, engage with award-winning social entrepreneurs, and tackle a social issue which has global resonance.”
