Virus email sent to University accounts

A number of email accounts have been sent an email containing a virus. The email includes an attached Word document,  named ‘invoice’. If you receive an email like this, please do not open the Word document attached to the email.

Opening the email may have an unexpected and harmful effect, such as destroying certain files on your hard disk and causing the attachment to be re-sent to everyone in your address book.

Always be cautious of emails containing attachments that you are not expecting, and don’t get caught out by ‘phishing’ scams which often link to sites which prompt you to enter your username and password.

These often take the form of emails asking you to “upgrade your account” because your mailbox is full, for example.

For more information search the iSolutions website for ‘phishing’, and if you’re ever suspicious of an email, please contact ServiceLine.
