The RCGP John Fry award is presented to one Member or Fellow of the College who has ‘promoted the discipline of General Practice through research and publishing as a practising GP’. The award commemorates the work of the late John Fry (1922-1994) who was a GP who made an exceptional contribution to research and publishing.

Dr Everitt has been a clinical academic in primary care at the University since 1999. Her research includes improving the management of common conditions including infections, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and insomnia and improving patients’ ability to self-care and self-manage these conditions.

Dr Everitt, who is an Associate Professor in General Practice, says:

“I am delighted to hear that I will receive the John Fry award, it is a great honour to be recognised for my research and publishing.

General practice is at the heart of patient care within the NHS and high quality research in primary care and dissemination of evidence-based practice has the potential to improve the lives of many patients.”

The award will be presented to Dr Everitt at the colleges Spring Annual General Meeting in London next May.
