Over the summer

The Careers and Employability Service centre, within Building 37 (Highfield Campus) has been refurbished to provide a better space for students looking to develop their employability. To get some part-time employment alongside your studies, the Students’ Union have now opened their own recruitment agency, SU Recruit.

Also within the Students’ Union building, the squash courts have been refurbished. The courts are free to book for any students with Sport and Wellbeing membership. In addition to these refurbishments, Sport and Wellbeing membership now also gives students who possess an RYA level 2 sailing award the chance to sail for free on advertised Wednesdays.

Over the last academic year

The Students’ Union increased the range of clothing and stationary that you can purchase on campus with the addition of the Shop on Top, and also opened the Bar 3 Diner within the main Students’ Union building (42), which has already won a national award for casual dining.

Your Sport and Wellbeing membership now provides you with access to many facilities off campus as well. Whilst it’s primarily aimed at students living there, if you’re around the city you can use your membership to use the new Mayflower Halls gym.

The University’s new Academic Skills Hub opened within the Hartley Library to signpost services and resources for students. The Hub is open from 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00 Monday to Friday. Appointments aren’t necessary, so just turn up and ask any questions that you have.
