Enactus Southampton prepare for World Cup in Johannesburg

Following their UK victory earlier this year, Enactus Southampton are now preparing to take students and alumni over to Johannesburg, South Africa, to represent the UK against teams from across the globe.

Enactus UK winWith over 200 members, Enactus Southampton is the largest Enactus team in the UK, using students’ energy and minds to set up social enterprises, empowering people both internationally and in local communities.

The national competition saw the team give a 17 minute presentation with their flagship international projects, SanEco and Right Light, followed by a question and answer session from a panel of judges that included senior employees from this year’s main sponsor, KPMG.

Their team has been working hard over the summer since their success in the national competition to prepare for their presentation at the Enactus World Cup which takes place from 14 – 16 October.  Some members of Enactus Southampton have additionally visited Kenya, where they worked with international charities Amani UK and Links International to franchise the models for their social enterprises SanEco and Right Light.

Jake Davies, President of Enactus, said:

“The Enactus national competition is the culmination of the year, all the hard work the team has put in is being recognised by the rest of the UK programme. Winning it is just the cherry on the cake, meaning we now have the honour of representing the UK at the World Cup in Johannesburg.”
