Two of the Universities foremost researchers on cancer immunology and immunotherapy spoke at last week’s Inaugural International Cancer Immunotherapy Conference: Translating Science into Survival in New York.
Southampton specialists Martin Glennie, Professor of Immunochemistry, and Christian Ottensmeier, Professor of Experimental Medicine, took the podium along with other acknowledged experts from around the globe to reveal the latest research and practice around how the body’s immune system is being used to fight cancer and extend peoples’ lives.
Professor Glennie’s presentation focused on ‘Designing immunostimulatory mAb to promote anti-cancer immunity’ whilst Professor Ottensmeier spoke on ‘Genomic assessment of tumour immune profiles’.
The conference of over 1,000 delegates sold out within hours of being announced some weeks ago. The event, held over four days, was jointly organized by The Cancer Research Institute (CRI), the Association for Cancer Immunotherapy (CIMT), the European Academy of Tumor Immunology (EATI), and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).
Joining Professors Glennie and Ottensmeier in New York was Peter Johnson, Professor of Oncology, who serves on the Conference’s Scientific Planning Committee.
