The University has continued its run of excellent performances in UK university league tables after climbing two places in the Good University Guide 2016.
This follows Southampton also rising in the QS World University Rankings, Guardian University Guide, and Complete University Guide earlier this year.
Published by The Times and The Sunday Times, the Guide reveals that Southampton has risen to 16 overall and climbed to 11 amongst the 24 members of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities. Southampton also ranks seventh overall for Research Quality under the Guide’s analysis of last December’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) ratings.
In the Guide’s subject rankings, Southampton tops the table for Physiotherapy – a climb of 31 places over last year in that subject area thanks to excellent REF results in Health Sciences where 100% of research was rated 4* for impact, and a rise in student satisfaction following the results of this year’s National Student Survey (NSS).
The University also ranks amongst the top five for Electrical & Electronic Engineering and German (3rd), Civil Engineering (4th), Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering and French (5th).
