One Book, One Southampton: New book announced

One Book, One Southampton is a community-wide reading program which aims to engage our internal and external community in a common conversation centred on a carefully chosen, thought-provoking book.

Following the success of last year’s book, Jeremy Paxman’s Empire, Professor Judith Petts (Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise) and the OBOS Steering Group are happy to announce the choice for the 2015/16 book: Intuition by Allegra Goodman.

Intuition is an intricate mystery and a rich human drama set in the high-stakes atmosphere of a prestigious research institute. It is a novel about the quest for ‘truth’, that asks, ‘who can you trust when you aren’t even sure you can trust yourself’?

There are plenty of different ways that you can get your copy of Intuition:

  • 2015/2016 Freshers can get a free copy of the book. Just head down to John Smith’s Bookshop on campus to get your copy – while stocks last.
  • The Hartley Library will be stocking copies of the book for you to borrow.
  • John Smith’s Bookshop has a large stock of Intuition, which you can buy.
  • You can also buy the book from any high street and online stores.
  • Finally, please do share any copies of the book around – we would encourage as many copies as possible to be passed throughout our community so open conversations and discussions can be held.
