The latest version of Apple’s Operating System (‘El Capitan’ – Mac OS X 10.11) was released last week (30-09-2015).
As with all new operating systems, we advise proceeding with caution before installing it on any University-owned systems – or any that you rely on to do your work – as it may cause incompatibilities with important items of your software or parts of the University infrastructure.
The current supported version of Mac OS X deployed on university systems is Mac OS X 10.10 (also known as ‘Yosemite’), which has been tested thoroughly with the University software portfolio, network services and storage systems, and exists as deployable images for staff workstations and Common Learning Space workstations used by students.
Staff and students with personally-owned Mac computers are also advised to research the new version before applying it.
