Getting to know campus – Part 3: study spaces

It’s easy to think that if you are trying to study, the only place to be is crammed into the Hartley Library. Whilst the library is the perfect place to study, we’ve compiled a list of some other spaces on campus.

Libraries

Avenue Library & Learning Commons has lots of desk space on Upper Level 2 overlooking the courtyard, group study pods and quieter computer rooms are also available. More information can be found on the Avenue Library website, including updates about the renovations to the Library & Learning Commons.

Don’t forget that you can also book group study rooms in the Hartley Library, if you find studying with others to be more productive. You can reserve these online on the Hartley Library website.

Buildings

Some buildings join forces with the Hartley Library and extend their opening times during the exam periods. For further information, look out for an email around exam time which will detail where these spaces will be.

SUSU

The Students’ Union building might not seem the best place to study, but there are plug sockets aplenty and lots of quiet spaces. Whether you fancy hiding out in The Bridge with a coffee or enjoying the comfy seats outside Bar Three Diner, there are some decent spots to be found.

The Nuffield Theatre

The Nuffield’s corridors are decked out with desks that provide a nice, quiet place to study during the day and their cafe is close on hand to keep you going too.

Costa

The newest addition to Highfield Campus, although sometimes busy, can be a good change of scenery from the rest of campus. Find it situated next to John Smith’s Bookshop, behind the Zeppler building.

National Oceanography Centre (NOC)

If a change of scenery would help your studies, venture down to the National Oceanography Centre and study overlooking the water.

For a list of resources, or for information on how to get there, visit the NOC Library website.
