Reward Project: UCU and University of Southampton joint communication

The Reward Project is a key strategic priority for the University and is currently preparing for the next phase of activity.

This will involve implementation of the new career pathways and appraisal for Management, Specialist and Administrative (MSA), Community and Operational (CAO) and Technical and Experimental (TAE) staff (levels 4-7).

There has been a high level of engagement by Southampton UCU (which represents all staff at levels 4-6) throughout this phase of the project.

The feedback gained has been very useful and incorporated into the two policy statements and other key outputs of the project. Southampton UCU and the University believe the proposals represent a much improved way of developing, rewarding and recognising employees for their commitment to the University.

The UCU’s National Ratification Panel has now given approval for Southampton UCU to ballot its members on whether to accept the new proposals. The ballot opened on 12 October 2015 and will close on 26 October 2015. This relates to the proposed MSA, CAO and TAE levels 4-6 policy statements and associated documents. UCU members will receive an email from Southampton UCU with a link to the online ballot and voting details.
