What is a MOOC?

A massive open online course (MOOC) is a free study programme designed to be studied online by large numbers of students.

Each course runs over a certain period of time, and can be joined at any point during the teaching. This enables learners to engage with areas and issues which interest them most.

What can I learn about?

In partnership with Future Learn, the University is currently offering three online courses which begin today (Monday 19 October). The courses can also be joined at any point during their course.

Agincourt 1415: Myth and Reality: Marking the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt, this course aims to explore the myths and realities of the battler. The course will run for two weeks, and will be led by subject expert Professor Anne Curry.

Digital Marketing: This course will aim to introduce new concepts and applications of digital marketing. The course will be led by Professor in Marketing, Lisa Harris, and will run for three weeks.

Understanding Language: Developed in partnership with British Council, this course will explore the learning of a second language.. This course will be led by Lecturer in Linguistics Darren Paffey, and Sara Pierson, from the British Council, running for four weeks.
