The role will see Fiona lead the association and represent the University at many national initiatives and discussions around technology enhanced learning. This week, she will be meeting with Jisc to discuss digital capabilities.

Last year as Vice-Chair, she was involved with a range of projects and initiatives where ALT had been asked to provide their views,  such as meeting a delegation from a university in India to attending a meeting at the House of Commons on the use of Cloud computing across the sectors of FE, HE and vocational training.

Speaking of the new role, Fiona said,

“Being involved in this at this level means that Southampton can benefit of the perspectives of institutions, both HE and FE and can be at the forefront of new initiatives, including those which are strategically important to us, such as blended and online learning.

I want to ensure that we can make the most of all the opportunities that come with the role and raise the national and international profile of the University of Southampton as a leader in the use of technology in education.”
