Run the Southampton Half Marathon for the Centre for Cancer Immunology

We are proud to announce that the University’s campaign for the Centre for Cancer Immunology has become a charity partner for the 2016 Southampton ABP Half Marathon and 10k.

ABP Half marathon

Taking place on Sunday 24 April, the race is a great opportunity for our staff, students and the local community to get involved with the campaign – helping us edge closer to our £25m goal to build a new, state-of-the-art centre at Southampton General Hospital in 2017, accelerating our cancer immunotherapy research and saving more lives.

As a charity partner, we have 20 places available for our staff and students who would like to run the half marathon in aid of the new Centre.

Regardless of whether you are able to secure one of our half marathon charity places, we hope that you will consider running the half marathon or 10k on behalf of the campaign.

As a campaign runner you’ll be joining some of the University’s senior leadership figures and top researchers, who have already pledged to run, including:

  • Adam Wheeler, Deputy Vice-Chancellor
  • Tim Elliot, Professor of Experimental Oncology
  • Professor Diana Eccles, Head of Cancer Sciences
  • Mark Cragg, Professor of Experimental Cancer Research

You’ll also be provided with a training guide to suit your individual needs, a campaign t-shirt for you to wear on race day and our team will be on hand to cheer you on before, during and after the race.

If you’d like to put your name forward for one of the campaign’s half marathon charity places please email [email protected] to register your interest. The deadline for registering your interest is Saturday 31 October and campaign runners will be contacted in early November.
