What to do after the end of exams?

Once the exams have ended, you could be looking for special considerations or just finding ways to celebrate.

After exams

 Special Considerations

This is a policy you can apply for if you believe you have been affected by unexpected circumstances outside of your control that have or will have negative impact on your studies and assessment.

It can also be used for requesting an extension when your ability to meet a deadline for submission of an assessment is affected. The University will require you to provide evidence for the extenuating, unexpected circumstances.

To apply for Special Considerations, you must submit the completed form and evidence to the Assessment team in your home Faculty soon as possible, but normally not more than five working days after any assessment or deadline that may have been affected by exceptional circumstances.

You can find more information on Special Considerations here. You can also find the complete rules and regulations regarding this policy here. For further guidance on the Special Considerations regulations, contact the Advice Centre at 02380 592 085 or email at [email protected].

If you have further questions, the VP Education will be running a campaign in the beginning of January to raise awareness of the University’s Special Considerations and deadline extension policy. Members of your Students’ Union, accompanied by Advice Centre staff, will be heading out to different campuses to answer your questions about the policy and to help you understand your options:

  • Monday 4 January: Southampton General Hospital – 11:00 – 14:00
  • Wednesday 6 January: National Oceanography Centre – Level 4, in the corridor from the library to the cafeteria – 11:00 – 14:00
  • Thursday 7 January: Avenue Campus – Main Reception, entrance to Building 65 – 11:00 – 14:00
  • Friday 8 January: Highfield Campus – SUSU Concourse, Building 42 – 11:00 – 14:00
  • Monday 11 January: Winchester School of Art – WSA Café – 11:00 – 14:00

Module Changes

With the second semester about to start, you may want to change the modules you had originally chosen. If you have any queries about your module choices, you should talk to your Faculty student office. They will be able to guide you about the options open to you.
