As the exam season arrives, the University Library is managing its services, resources and spaces to ensure that you are able to make the most of your study time to prepare for exams.
Services
If you are at a total loss on how to start revising why not visit the Academic Skills Hub based on Level 2 of the Hartley Library. It’s open Monday-Friday: 10:00-12:00, 14:00-16:00. Or if would you like to know what type of learner you are, take a look online at the Exam Technique LibGuide and identify your learning style with a free self-test.
Across all other Library sites, Winchester School of Art, the Health Services Library, the National Oceanography Library and the Library & Learning Commons at the Avenue Campus, you will find staff who can answer questions and guide you to books and resources to help you prepare as well as possible.
There is an IT Help Desk in Hartley Library – on Level 2, at the back of the Entrance Hall, on the left-hand side: A face-to-face service to support you with IT questions and glitches.
Resources
Use the online resources the Library staff have gathered and developed, to provide you with support and guidance in preparing for exams. These include revision techniques and the exam papers database among other useful information.
In the Hartley Library, there will be 50 additional, temporary study desks for you to use during the exam period.
Space
In all of our Libraries, we provide a quiet and comfortable study environment for all users. Check the opening times for all of the University Libraries here. If you want to plan your study, you could book a desk, or a group study room if you are revising with peers.
Hartley Library will be open 24 hours right through until the end of the summer exam period, with a short break for Easter.
In the Hartley Library, the workstation Rooms 4075 and 4077 (Level 4, south end), Room 1009 and Room 3009 will open Monday-Friday, 07:30-17:00 and Saturday 09:00-16:00 from Monday 4 January-Friday 22 January as additional, freely available, workstation rooms for study.
