UCU ballot approval for next phase of the Reward Project

Members of Southampton University and College Union (UCU) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of implementing the next phase of the Reward Project.

In October 2015, UCU members were invited to participate in a ballot relating to the next phase of the Reward Project. The ballot outcome was positive and approval has been provided for a new appraisal process and career pathways to be implemented for Levels 4-7 staff in Management, Specialist and Administration (MSA), Community and Operational (CAO) and Technical and Experimental (TAE) job families.

The new appraisal process and pathways are aimed at making sure staff are rewarded and recognised for their performance and contribution in pursuit of the University’s strategy.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff who contributed their time to the project and supported the design and development work over the past year.

Communications will soon commence to introduce the changes and help all those in the relevant job families to understand the following:

  • The aim and purpose of the new appraisal process and pathways
  • The timeline for these changes
  • Training available to support development of appraisal skills
  • The new online appraisal system
