On Tuesday 3 November, students had the chance to attend the new Opportunities Fair.

The event showcased a variety of internal opportunities encompassing work experience; skills development; volunteering and partnerships, all intended to enrich student experience and equip them for the future.  Opportunities were available both at home and overseas.

The LinkedIn, Lynda.com and CV Clinic interactive activities proved popular with students keen to receive expert advice on how to achieve their personal and professional goals.

Positive feedback was received from the exhibiting services about the Fair. Ruth Law, Student Abroad and Exchange, said:

“The Study Abroad and Exchange Team spoke with a lot of students who were not aware of all the opportunities to study overseas so this was a great event for us to be able to inspire those students to add an international experience to their degree.”

Summarising the activities of the day, Head of the Careers and Employability Service, Helen Fuge, said:

“What a showcase of talent! Not only did we have fantastic participation on the day, it was also clear that the students that attended the Opportunity Fair were motivated and passionate about engaging with the wide range of opportunities we have to offer across the University.”

To celebrate the launch of this new Fair, students were entered into the free prize draw, and the lucky winners are:

  • iPad – Wennan Li
  • Tickets to Natwest T20 Black Cricket – Ciprjan Blujdea
  • £50 Travel voucher – Emmanouil Mylonakis and Adedoyin Azeez
  • Tapas and drinks vouchers at Mango – Joanna Prylinska
