It’s Blackout this evening: remember to switch off non-essential equipment

This evening is our fourth Blackout event and we’re asking staff and students to switch off non-essential equipment when they leave the University, not just today, but every day.

Blackout is designed to highlight the positive impact of our collective small actions on campus just by switching off computers, lights and devices at the end of each day.

So from 18:00 to 22.00 this evening, Blackout volunteers will audit and switch off any equipment left on unnecessarily before the weekend.

Switching off equipment not only reduces our energy consumption and carbon emissions but cuts our annual electricity bill too.

Blackout covers offices and Common Learning Spaces but excludes lecture theatres and laboratories and ECS computer laboratories.

You can read the Blackout FAQs here.

You can follow progress on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Blackout is part of the University’s 2015 Wellbeing Week, find out more here.
