Thank you to all the volunteers who took part in this year’s Blackout

A big thank you to all the volunteers who took part in this year’s Blackout.

More than 220 students and members of staff took part in the event last Friday (13 November) which spanned five campuses – Highfield, Avenue, WSA, Boldrewood and, for the first time, the Somers Building at Southampton General Hospital.

The Blackout team worked hard going round the buildings and making sure all non-essential equipment was turned off before the weekend in less than three hours.

Blackout highlights the positive impact of our collective small actions on campus just by switching off computers, lights and devices at the end of each day.

The Blackout management team will now be looking at the electricity data; look out for the published results in due course.

Blackout’s not just for one night though, so please remember to switch off non-essential equipment again this evening before you go home.

See the highlights from the night on Storify here.
