Nuffield Theatre

This Christmas, Southampton’s Nuffield will be transformed into the legendary kingdom of Camelot, to tell the story of Merlin the magician, Prince Arthur and Princess Gwen.

There are daily performances from 26 November – 3 January.

Turner Sims

The Turner Sims Concert Hall are offering an abundance of seasonal musical performances to enjoy this Christmas.

Start December with one of Bach’s great masterpieces with acclaimed harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani, on 3 December.

Alternatively, on Friday 4 December, join us for an evening with Mercury nominated jazz outfit Polar Bear, as they perform their latest project Same As You.

On Thursday 10 December, world-famous baroque quartet Red Priest will present their Baroque Carnival – a feast of seasonal music, including Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Vivaldi’s Winter from the Four Seasons, Van Eyck’s Carol Variations and a suit from Handel’s Messiah.

Finally, on Sunday 13 December, folk favourites Mellstock Band celebrate Christmas with The Leaves of Life, a selection of carols and revels, reading and humour in the English tradition.

John Hansard Gallery

If you’re looking for an alternative event to attend this Christmas, the John Hansard Gallery is hosting a new exhibition which explores acoustics, vibration, sound visualisation and musical gesture.

The Trembling Line is a new exhibition of works by London-based artist Aura Satz.

The exhibition also features a score by Leo Grant and an innovative multichannel audio system by the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), at the University.

The exhibition is open until 23 December, Tuesday – Saturday. Entrance is free.
