The University will remain closed from Thursday 24 December 2015 to Friday 1 January 2016.

  • The Hartley Library will offer a basic service from 9:00 – 6:00 on the following University closure days: Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30, and Thursday 31 December.
  • The Hartley Library will resume its normal 24/7 service from 7:30 on Saturday 2 January 2016.

The Health Services Library at Southampton General Hospital will also be open between Christmas and the New Year as follows:

  • Tuesday 29 December 09:00-17:00
  • Wednesday 30 December 09:00-17:00
  • Thursday 31 December 09:00-13:00

For students and staff who need to access files or software over the break, you can use the University’s Southampton Virtual Environment. This will enable you to access your files along with Library online resources and databases while you are away. If you live in the UK you can also apply for SCONUL membership if you want to use other University Libraries close to where you will be. Details of this scheme can be found here.

If you’re leaving your house unattended over the break, read up on SUSU’s tips on home safety.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas.
