The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) one day First Aid course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid. Whilst it is in principle an aquatic first aid course, the skills you learn are applicable in any location, including office workers.
It fulfils the requirements for professional skippers working within 60 miles of a safe haven. The course is approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and partly satisfies the requirements of commercial work afloat. The syllabus is based on recommendations from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the MCA.
All courses run on a Saturday at the University Watersports Centre. Although a course considering application of First Aid at Sea, it also covers items covered in a one day first aid course for Appointed Person First Aiders.
