University hosts global virtual workshop on asteroids and space debris

Staff and students are invited to attend the second ‘Stardust Global Virtual Workshop’ from the 19 – 22 of January, in building 54/4011, on technologies for asteroid deflection and debris removal.

Space debris is a collection of manmade objectives such as old satellites, bits of rockets, also known as space junk that is in orbit around earth.

Academics in our Astronautics Research Group have been involved in the European wide project ‘Stardust’ since 2013 . Stardust is a unique training and research network devoted to develop and master techniques for monitoring, removing/deflecting asteroids and space debris.

The workshop includes keynotes from the UK Space Agency, NASA, European Space Agency and Airbus DS.
