What to get involved with over the next semester

With exam season coming to a close, it’s time to start thinking about what you can get involved in across the next semester.

The much awaited Refreshers’ Fayre returns to Building 42 and the Red Brick Area from 10:00 – 16:00 on Friday 29 January. This free event is a great opportunity to find out about the opportunities that Southampton has to offer.

For a full list of events, view the full Refreshers’ programme on the Students’ Union website.

What else can I get involved in?

Join a society:  Whether your interests lie in competitive sport, academic groups, or or simply being a part of a team  – the Student’s Union has a society to suit everyone. It’s never to late to become involved in a club.

Excel Internship Scheme: The scheme offers a vast range of 4-12 week paid work placements exclusively for students at the University, available during both term-time, and over the Easter and summer periods. Apply now on the Excel website.

Start volunteering: Southampton is home to lots of non-profit charities and associations, who would most certainly appreciate your help. You can find a list of ideas and opportunities for volunteering in our previous SUSSED guide.

Seek out new skills: The University offers a range of free online courses (MOOCs), which are available to all students. This is a brilliant way of gaining knowledge and experience in subject areas outside of your degree course.

You can also find a range of wider opportunities to develop your skills on the  OPUS website.
