University announces death of Christopher Parnell, Baron Congleton

It is with great sadness that we advise colleagues of the recent death of Christopher Parnell, 8^th Baron Congleton, at the age of 85.

Baron Congleton was a great friend and supporter of the University with a particular interest in the Library. He also served on the University’s Development Trust from 1986-95 acting as Chair from 1986-1994.

In 1990, Baron Congleton was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law by the University.

A Service of Thanksgiving for Baron Congleton will be held at 12.00 noon at Salisbury Cathedral on Wednesday 3 Feb, 2016.
