The OTO trial may be of interest to you if you identify with any of the following:

  • Experience of involuntary thoughts or behaviours that are difficult to control or get rid of
  • Fears about dirt, germs and contamination or causing harm
  • Are you overly concerned with order, arrangement or symmetry
  • Feel you have to do certain things excessively like repeatedly wash, check or order things
  • Do these thoughts or behaviours make you feel distressed?

In the study we are looking at 3 different treatment possibilities: a medication called Sertraline (SSRI); a psychological therapy called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with Exposure Response Prevention (ERP); a combination of both sertraline and the psychological therapy CBT with ERP.

Participants are randomised to one of the above treatments. Treatment will be given for up to 1 year. There will be no cost to the participant.

To participate in this study you must be:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Have had symptoms of OCD for more than 1 year

If you are interested, please send an email, or call 023 8071 8520. We are recruiting until end of March. Please note, number of available spaces is limited.
