Individuals are required for a research study looking at Optimal treatment in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OTO).
The OTO trial may be of interest to you if you identify with any of the following:
- Experience of involuntary thoughts or behaviours that are difficult to control or get rid of
- Fears about dirt, germs and contamination or causing harm
- Are you overly concerned with order, arrangement or symmetry
- Feel you have to do certain things excessively like repeatedly wash, check or order things
- Do these thoughts or behaviours make you feel distressed?
In the study we are looking at 3 different treatment possibilities: a medication called Sertraline (SSRI); a psychological therapy called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with Exposure Response Prevention (ERP); a combination of both sertraline and the psychological therapy CBT with ERP.
Participants are randomised to one of the above treatments. Treatment will be given for up to 1 year. There will be no cost to the participant.
To participate in this study you must be:
- Over 18 years of age
- Have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Have had symptoms of OCD for more than 1 year
