Students’ Union Change Your World Week starts today

From Sunday 6 March – Sunday 13 March the Students’ Union is putting on series of events about creating a positive future and focus on: employability, ethics, environment and equality.

Change your world week

The Students’ Union Shop will be offering 10 per cent discount on all Fairtrade products and the bars will be offering 10 per cent off Vibrant Forest Local Ale and Fairtrade tea and coffee across the week.

Here are some of the activities taking place:

Inspiring Women – Monday 7 March, 18:30, The Bridge, Building 42 (Students’ Union). Stories and discussions from women leading in their field. Students who pre-register will receive a free drink on arrival.

Free film screening of UNITY – Tuesday 8 March, 18:00, Bar 2, Building 42. Narrated by over 100 celebrities, this is a beautiful and thought-provoking film about mankind’s relationship with the world. The screening is being organised by the Vegan and Vegetarian Society and will include discussion and cake afterwards.

Grow Your Own – Wednesday 9 March, 11:00, The Redbrick area outside Building 42. An opportunity to plant your own food in bottles to take home. The event includes free recipe cards to use for your plants.

Swap Shop – Friday 11 March, The Cube, Building 42. Students and staff are invited to drop off items of clothing from 08:30 – 11:30 to collect your tokens. These tokens can then be used to swap for new clothing from 12:00 – 14:30.

Cycling with Sustainability Transport Friday 11 March, 11:00 The Redbrick area outside Building 42. An opportunity to get your bike checked with the Bike Doctor, get useful information on bike equipment, and pedal yourself a drink on the smoothie bike.
