The University is placed 48th in the European University Top 200 Rankings published by Times Higher Education (THE).
This list sees Southampton placed 17th amongst UK universities included in the ranking, sharing 48th place with RWTH Aachen University of Germany. The rankings are drawn from data used to compile the THE World University Rankings 2015-16, using the same performance indicators as in the overall rankings methodology.
Institutions in the European 200 table were measured on their teaching environment, research environment, citations (research influence), industry income and international outlook.
Southampton shared 110th with RWTH Aachen in the latest THE world rankings published in September 2015.
In January 2016, Southampton was ranked as the 60th ‘most international university’ in the world by the THE, using international outlook indicators including the proportion of international staff, students and research papers published with a least one co-author from another country.
