The day is dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments and victories of transgender and gender non-conforming people while raising awareness of the work that is still needed to save trans lives.

The day was founded in 2009 as a reaction to the lack of LGBT holidays celebrating transgender people’s successes.

Starring Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander, and nominated for four Oscars (Alicia Vikander won the Oscar for her role), The Danish Girl is a fictitious love story loosely inspired by the lives of Danish artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener.

Lili and Gerda’s marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili’s ground-breaking journey as a transgender pioneer.

The screening is free, and tickets can be reserved through the Eventbrite page.
