Travel advice for staff and students

international students at airportThe University community has been shocked and saddened by events in Brussels and we recognise there is an increased level of concern about travel to Belgium at this time of heightened security.

In the light of the recent terrorist activities, the University would like to remind all staff and students to undertake thorough risk assessments before they travel.

Please be advised that there are currently no Foreign and Commonwealth Office or insurance restrictions on travel to Brussels. But you are advised to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of the Belgian authorities. However, if staff feel that travel is unsafe or unnecessary at this time they should discuss other options with their line managers in the first instance.

You can keep up to date with advice at the UK Government’s foreign travel webpages and can register for information from the University’s insurance provider, AIG.

As a University community we offer our sympathy to the Belgian people and everyone affected by the events.
