Policy Brief Writing – 13 April

The workshop will cover key questions and skills for researchers such as: How to identify and formulate the policy implications of your research? How to write in a language and format that is readily accepted by policymakers?

Learn how Research and Innovation Services can support you in maximising the economic benefit of your research; how the Public Engagement Unit can help you take your research out to the general public and find new ways of involving them for mutual benefit.

Pathways to Impact – 11 May

This session will start by providing an overview of the Impact Agenda and move on to focus on writing winning Pathways to Impact document.

You will have a chance to review real examples and sketch out your own potential routes to impact.

Engaging with the European Union – 25 May

This session on engaging with EU policymakers will start with a short introduction to the EU policymaking framework and institutions.

Participants will acquire a greater understanding of the target audience, such as European Parliament, European Commission, etc.

Identifying and responding to UK Government and Parliament Consultations – 8 June

Public Policy@Southampton Director, Gavin Costigan, will explore how to find out about current Government Consultations and Parliamentary Select Committee Inquiries, and how to write a response of most use to the people reading it.
