Are you interested in how nutrition before and during pregnancy may benefit a baby’s health?

Researchers on the NiPPeR team at the Epidemiology Unit at Southampton General Hospital are looking for participants to help them with a study to examine the benefits of an enriched nutritional drink.

Specifically they’ll be looking at whether the drinks maintain healthy sugar metabolism in the mother and promote the health of both mother and baby.

Participants will be asked to drink the nutrients twice a day before and during pregnancy. There will also be a series of monitoring tests before, during and after pregnancy.

The nutritional drink will provide you, at no cost to yourself, with the vitamins and minerals recommended for before and during pregnancy.

Taking part will allow you to have extra ultrasound scans during pregnancy at 7, 28 and 34 weeks, along with having your NHS ultrasound scans at 12 and 19 weeks in our dedicated suite. You will be given pictures of your baby to take home.

Please email the NiPPeR team or call them on 0800 032 31 30, if you are aged 18-38 years and are planning to become pregnant in the next 6 months.

The study will be running throughout 2016 (and possibly into 2017) so there is no current deadline to join the project.
