Friday 15 April, 18:30 – 20:00

This special Researchers’ Café is on Southampton’s air quality. This event was created in response to demand from the local community, and it is linked to the city’s ongoing Climate Conversations. It will take place at Mettricks Tea and Coffee House, 117 High Street. Mettricks is a well-loved cafe selling tasty food and drinks (including alcohol).

Topics:

  • Is unpolluted air possible to obtain in a modern industrial society? with Professor Ian Williams
  • Types of air pollution and their potential effects on our health, with Dr Matt Loxham
  • Road traffic and Southampton’s poor air quality, with PhD student Matt Grote

Wednesday 20 April, 12:00 – 13:30

This event is a lunchtime special in conjunction with Lloyd’s Register, to be held in the Foyer Café of Building 175 (LR building). The Café serves drinks and light snacks. Feel free to bring your lunch with you.

Topics:

  • The cyber-enabled ship, with Bernard Twomey (Lloyd’s Register)
  • Summary of the state of Southampton’s air quality (University of Southampton)

As always attendees can choose between several topics and either just listen or join in the discussion.
