We’re looking for a team of new student bloggers over at the University’s blog, Life at Southampton.

The blog is aimed at anyone who may be interested in student life here, particularly current and prospective students.

The purpose is to give an inside view from real students here at the University. Posts in the past have ranged from offering tips on studying, budgeting and travelling locally, to recounting trips abroad and placement experiences.

A student from any subject or background can apply, as long as you are continuing to study at Southampton during the 2016/17 academic year. The most important thing is your flair for communicating and telling stories.

This is a paid position and requires you to write three to four posts each month of least 500 words each (although length will likely vary from week to week). You will need to meet deadlines set by your editor, think creatively and manage your blog work around your studies and extra-curricular activities.

This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate and develop your communication skills and is a great addition to any portfolio and CV.

To enter, please email us at [email protected] with the following information:

  • Name
  • Student ID
  • Current year of study for 2015/16 (e.g. first year, final year)
  • Subject of study
  • Sample of your writing: A 500 word blog post about your life at Southampton of any genre or subject matter. It should be attached to your email as a Word document, and must be your own original work.

Entries close at 17:00 on Monday 16 May.
